Welcome to Greenwich Council's Planning Policy Consultation Portal
This page lists current and past planning policy consultations relating to the Boroughs Local Development Framework (LDF).
The Local Development Framework
In 2004, the Government replaced the previous planning system by introducing Local Development Frameworks. The LDF is a series of planning policy documents which once adopted will replace the Unitary Development Plan (2006).
An LDF includes:
Development Plan Documents (DPD): A Local Development Framework must include a Core Strategy and a Proposals Map. It may also contain additional optional development documents such as Area Action Plans. DPDs are subject to public consultation and independent examination.
Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD): Supplementary Planning Documents expand or add details to policies laid out in development plan documents or a saved policy in an existing development plan.
A Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) – this sets out how the public will be involved in the process of preparing and reviewing planning policy documents and in development control decisions
A Local Development Scheme – this sets out the ‘project plan' identifying which documents will be produced and when.
An Annual Monitoring Report – which is a report submitted to Government that assesses the effectiveness of the LDF.
